Arabic as a Second Language(ASL) Objectives

1.  Learn the 28 letters of the alphabet with short vowels (حركات) 

2   Learn the letters in their different forms (beginning/ middle/end)

3.  Learn Arabic Visual words level 1  

4.  Learn basic conversational skills

5.  Link the newly learned Arabic vocabulary to Quranic Studies to enhance        understanding of versus of the Quran.

6.  Quranic Studies: 

•  Learn small surahs from Juz’ Amma.
• Learn Ayat from the Quraan with interesting stories that help them bond with and enjoy their time with their holy book.
• Use simplified drawings ( mind maps) to help kids memorise surahs in an easy fun way.
• Learn proper letter pronunciation.

1.  Practice reading the letters with long vowels(المدود)  and Sukoon (سكون)

2.  Read simple texts from leveled readers books. 

3.  Learn Arabic Visual words 

4.  Work on conversational skills

5.  Link the newly learned Arabic vocabulary to Quranic Studies to enhance understanding of versus of the Quran.

6.  Quranic Studies:

• Learn simple “Tajweed” rules.
• Emphasize proper letter pronunciation.
• Learn Surahs from Juz’ Amma.
• Learn specific Ayat  from the Quraan with special meanings and teachings that help them cherish their identity as Muslims.
• Learn Ayat from the Quraan with interesting stories that help them bond with and enjoy their time with their holy book.
• Learn the interpretation of the Ayat using simple mind maps built through teachers’ explanation and kids’ interactive brainstorming during class.
